Thank you for your comments! It is comforting to hear that I am not the only one who feels this way. It is concerning that many members of the Church, including many people from other Christian denominations, seem blind to the reality of what is really happening to our great state and country. Marxism has infiltrated practically every institution in this country, including, I fear, the LDS Church. The Marxism is very deceptive and deceiving and dressed up as something that it isn't. It is truly the modern wolf in sheep's clothing! As a result, many people either refuse to see the reality behind this or cannot see the reality because they have been brainwashed or indoctrinated. Those of us who are awake are well aware of its tentacles. The above article well stated its impact on the state of Utah. I worry many members of our church have bought into fake propaganda coming from many so-called news source and social media. But as was mentioned in your comments and as I cannot agree more, we are constantly inundated by kindness, kindness, and more kindness. I fear that our Christian attributes have been turned against us. Be kind, turn the other cheek, don't judge, love everyone, etc, etc. However, what is rarely mentioned these days is the power of discernment between Good and Evil. Are we going to be kind to evil? Are we going to love someone who is attacking our children and trying to indoctrinate them with lifestyles that will only bring them sadness? Are we not to judge individuals who seek us harm? There is a point where we need to take a stand against evil. It seems as if that is hardly mentioned when kindness, etc is brought up. I firmly believe that Satan has used these attributes against us to make us feel guilty if we do have to take a stand against evil. There is nothing contentious in fighting for what's right. I fear that too many members are under the impression that they are not allowed to fight back or else they will be labeled "contentious." Of course, we are well aware of many situations in the scriptures where fighting back against evil was necessary. I believe that Satan is very crafty in making people feel guilty for choosing to take a stand against evil. I have also sat in on many lessons in church where everyone talks about being kind and non-judgmental, but nobody talks about the power of discernment. I believe that this is one of the subtle forms of Marxism that has infiltrated our Church. We are to literally surrender ourselves to Marxist agendas in the name of kindness, Etc. If this doesn't change and if people don't wake up to the reality of what this is all about, we will someday"awaken to our awful situation." It is my prayer that the members will wake up in time.

Let me give a real-world description of how far this concept of being
"civil" has been taken in the Mormon Church.

The focus of a recent Elders Quorum lesson was on Nelson's and others' statements that we need to be kind and not be contentious.

After listening to all the virtue signalling drivel from the Quorum members, and how evil it is to be contentious, I asked this question of the group: Is there ever a time when we must contend against evil?

To my surprise and disappointment, I received comments back from multiple members how we must never be contentious. not even against evil. My favorite comment came from a former bishop of the ward who said, signalling his virtue: "I don't contend against evil, but I do oppose it." I am not making this up. I commented to him in response, "That is merely semantics," to which he lowered his head and shook it, implying how utterly wrong I was in promoting contention against evil. (I later checked for synonyms to "contend" and naturally found "oppose.")

After listening to 4 or 5 people tie themselves into knots and proving their virtue and adherence to Nelson's admonition against contention, I gave an example of an evil that we should all be able to agree upon, the mutilation of children in the name of "gender affirmation." Could we not all agree that we should contend against this evil? But still, all I received was pushback against "contention."

Being incredulous that not one of the 25 elders there would believe as I that we should contend against evil, I stood up and literally made the plea, "Is there not one of you who will stand up and support me in my belief that we must contend against evil?" Writing this, I can still hardly believe it, but not a soul budged. I stood there looking around the room for even one person who would stand with me, but there was no one. (Cue the crickets.)

What added insult to injury, the person who led the lesson stated, "We have a spirit of contention here," for which I, of course, was personally responsible.

These people are so cowed into submission to the narrative against "contention" that not a one would agree with me that we should contend against evil.

I find it difficult these days to participate with this group, but I continue on. They are good people who wish to do right, but the incessant admonition to "kindness" has resulted in a church whose members are misled, just as described in the article above by Vince Adams.

As a footnote to this experience, I spent about 5 minutes doing a little research on the subject of contention. I found D & C 18:20: "Contend against no church, save it be the church of the devil." I have considered opening this wound with the Quorum but have thought better of it. I realize these beliefs are so embedded among the membership, nothing I do or say will cause them to change their minds. I once believed that Mormons were not brainwashed and, without thought or question, will always fall in line with what their leaders say.

Following the Church's response to Covid and the 1st Presidency's urging us all to take the vaccines peddled by "our wise and thoughtful leaders," I think I better understand Christ's parable of the ten virgins:

We are all individually responsible for keeping oil in our lamps.

Fantastic article. Ezra Taft Benson once said that a liberal church member is one who doesn't actually believe that the church is true. And it seems church leaders are all liberals these days, happy to lead the church into the satanic NWO - saying you're being "civil" and "Christlike" if you go along with it, and a bad person if you oppose or object or would like to fight back like the Book of Mormon tells us to do repeatedly.
