The short version is a Nevada ranchers family (the Bundy family) has controlled this stretch of land since settling there in the 1800’s. A hundred years later the BLM comes in and steals the land and wants the Bundy’s to pay them rent for the privilege of using his own land. Feeling intimidated, he complies for a few years until he realizes what happened and then told the thieves where to go and how to get there. This was over 30 years ago.
Now, the feds are swooping in with snipers, tazing people, kicking grandmothers and pregnant women on the ground in their new found effort to protect the desert tortoise. Now we find out that the BLM is just using that as a ruse, as they are actually killing hundreds of these desert tortoise due to budget cuts. So, this supposedly budget strapped agency is resorting to lies and physical assault, spending $3 million in an effort to settle a fraudulent $1 million debt.
How does this effect Utah? This is not just an isolated incident. The BLM is abusing land owners across the country, see the theft going on to this rancher in Texas, and see why this must be stopped before it comes to our front door. Utah lawmakers finally weigh in on the standoff. Unfortunately, they only spoke about keeping the cattle out of Utah due to health concerns, with no comments about the BLMs abuse of the elderly and pregnant, the restriction of the Constitution among scores of other abuses

One of our informants gives this account:
Things are getting ugly and communication is very very poor. The BLM agreed to leave and turn the cattle loose, but it was a lie! The last we heard, there was a verbal confrontation going on and an attempt to free the cattle. The area is off limits to air traffic yet a jumbo jet flew over escorted by at least 8 fighter jets. There are approximately 900 freedom supporters there.
SWAT teams have now arrived and have now threatened to shoot protestors if they try to return Mr. Bundy’s property to him.
